Abidjan to Brussels: the Ivory Coast-Belgium delivery corridor

One of West Africa's fastest-growing peer delivery corridors, driven by the Ivorian community in Belgium.

Belgium has one of the largest Ivorian communities in Europe per capita, concentrated in Brussels and Liège. The Abidjan-Brussels corridor is a growing Sendways route with strong demand in both directions.

Brussels to Abidjan. Electronics are the dominant category: smartphones, tablets, laptops. Belgian prices, while higher than Dubai, are significantly below what equivalent goods cost at retail in Abidjan. Branded cosmetics and baby products are the second major category.

Abidjan to Brussels. Attiéké (dried cassava couscous, commercially packaged), traditional fabrics, cocoa-based food products (Côte d'Ivoire produces 40% of the world's cocoa supply, and chocolate products are popular gifts), and artisan crafts.

Côte d'Ivoire customs. The country operates within the ECOWAS customs framework. Personal-effects allowances apply to returning residents. Electronics attract scrutiny due to counterfeit concerns.

Belgian/EU customs. Standard EUR 150 threshold. Belgian customs (DGDA) is thorough. The Brussels airport (BRU) has consistent customs enforcement. Clear labelling and documentation are essential.

Brussels Airlines. Operates direct services on this route and has a strong presence across Central and West Africa.

Earnings. EUR 18-30 per kilogram. The electronics-heavy Brussels-to-Abidjan direction commands the higher end of this range.
