Smart handoff choices protect both you and the traveler. These habits make the whole experience smooth.
The handoff is the most personal moment in community delivery. Done right, it takes five minutes and leaves both parties confident. Done wrong, it creates unnecessary stress.
Choose public locations. Coffee shops, shopping mall entrances, hotel lobbies, and airport departure halls are all excellent. Avoid private addresses for first-time interactions with a traveler you have not used before.
Agree on the time with buffer. Travelers have flights to catch. Build at least 30 minutes into the meeting time before they need to leave for the airport. A rushed handoff leads to corners being cut, with weight checks skipped, photos not taken.
Verify identity before handing over. Check the traveler's profile on Sendways. Confirm their name matches the booking. A quick look at a government ID is reasonable and most verified travelers expect it.
Take photos together. Both parties should photograph the sealed package at handoff. This timestamp and visual record resolves any "item was already damaged" claims before they start.
Get confirmation in the app. Use the Sendways chat to send a short message ("Package received at 14:30, sealed, 1.2 kg") immediately after the handoff. This creates a logged record.
If something feels wrong, trust your instincts. You can cancel at the handoff stage if the traveler cannot verify their identity or is behaving in a way that makes you uncomfortable. Sendways escrow protects your money.
Safe handoffs are mostly a matter of a few good habits applied consistently.
