Most everyday items are fine. Some are restricted. A few are completely off-limits. Here is the full breakdown.
Peer-to-peer delivery works for a surprisingly wide range of items. But there are clear limits, set by airlines, by customs authorities, and by Sendways itself. Knowing the categories in advance saves you time and protects the traveler.
Freely sendable items include clothing, shoes, accessories, books, printed documents, small electronics (phones, tablets, cables), cosmetics in quantities below personal-use thresholds, and non-perishable packaged food that is commercially sealed and labelled.
Items that need care and disclosure. Perfumes and cologne are flammable and must stay below airline liquid limits (usually 100 ml per container in hand luggage). Lithium battery devices, such as laptops and power banks, must go in carry-on only, never checked luggage. Always tell the traveler exactly what you are sending so they can pack accordingly.
Restricted by many customs authorities. Medicines, especially prescription drugs, require documentation. Some countries ban or heavily tax specific food products (fresh meat, dairy, certain fruits). Currency above certain thresholds must be declared. The traveler must know about these items before accepting.
Completely prohibited on Sendways. Weapons, ammunition, drugs, counterfeit goods, tobacco products above personal limits, and any item the traveler is not comfortable declaring. See our Prohibited Items page for the full list.
A practical rule. If you would be comfortable describing the item out loud to a customs officer, it is probably fine. If you hesitate, do not send it.
When in doubt, message the traveler first. A quick conversation before the handoff prevents delays, disputes, and awkward situations at the border.
